{ Lanie's Sea Glass Collection }

Hi guys!  Lanie-bug here.  Shew, it's been soooooooooooo long since we have shared on our blog!  We have each been super busy.....I bet you all have been too!

Today was SUPER hot outside and normally I don't give a rat's patootie if it's hot outside but today was different.  I was extra tired and decided to have a stay-inside kinda day.  Only problem was, I was so totally bored just sitting inside!  I started thinking about my very special beach on the Chesapeake Bay where I find my favorite things to collect - sea glass!  I have not been able to go yet this summer and it's looking like I might not be able to go at all.  This made me a teensy bit sad so I started day-dreaming about all the fun times that Trey, Isabelle and I have had on our last few trips to the bay.  You can read about those trips here, here and here!  With sea glass on my mind, I decided to pull out my entire collection and look at it all.  So I braved the heat and went outside to my camper cause that's my special hangout where I keep my treasures - and, well, also some snacks that I don't want the other girls to find!  Ssshhhhh, you gotta keep that a secret between you and me!

American Girl Doll Photo Blog
I have a guide that I keep up on my bulletin board in the camper that tells me which colors are more rare to find.  I got out all my little pieces and organized them by color on my camper table.  I don't have many rare colors but I do have a couple very small pieces of red which I am very, very proud of!  I have lots of browns, whites and greens.  Even though the greens are quite common, I still love that color - probably because of where they came from.  Did you know that most of the green colored sea glass comes from old Coca-Cola bottles?  Yep, they sure do!  I still have not found any orange or purple.  Those are super rare and I'll probably never find either one of them but I will continue to look cause the hunting is just as much fun as the finding!!

What about you guys?  Do you have a special collection of treasures?  If so, what is it?  ~Lanie ☼

    1. Hello Catlover02! I can always dream, right? There wasn't a whole lot of purple glass back in the day when boats used to dump their glass trash overboard so the chances of me finding some is slim but I do have dreams about finding a piece one day!! LOL!! ~Lanie ☼

    1. Hi Jaclynn, We are glad to be back too! We've so missed being here! If you are ever near the Chesapeake Bay, that is a great place to search for sea glass. Also, Lake Erie is known for it as well. We have never been there but the girls are dying to take a camping trip there to check it out. ~D3 Team♥

    2. Oh, thanks for telling me! :)
Also, I have a question - where did you buy the lights for your dollhouse? We're having a hard time finding some good ones for mine :)

    3. Hi Jaclynn, We actually found those on eBay but I have to tell you, we weren't terribly pleased with the quality or the brightness of the light. So, just search eBay or Amazon for stick-up lights or adhesive lights and read the reviews before buying. Maybe even buy just one to try out first. Ours do give some light but it's fairly dim. Hope that is helpful! ~D3 Team♥

  5. Hi! Love the sea glass collection. It's been really hot and humid where we are too. We all have a few different things we like to collect. I seem to collect glasses and sunglasses (I share the sunglasses with my sisters). But we all like to collect and try different teas.

    Later. Stay cool!

  9. Off to a good start on that sea glass collection, I hope you find what you are looking for! And I can vouch for Lake Erie being a great place to find sea glass, my best friend used to live right in Erie and she bought me a lovely set of earrings and matching necklace made from it. She has a decent sized collection from her visits to the beach there.

    1. Hello Flo! Well now, that makes us want to visit Lake Erie, like NOW! I bet your earrings and matching necklace are gorgeous.....what color is the glass in them?

      Delete
    2. This set is made from cobalt blue, green and white. The necklace is strung on a clear line (like fishing line) so they look kind of like they are floating when worn. Another friend has also collected quite a bit from there as well, it is plentiful! Just about every gift shop you go into sells jewelry made from it.

    3. Ohhhhh, Flo! Now we are itching to go! Maybe next summer we can plan a road trip. You can be we'll post about it if we do. :) Those three colors sound beautiful together.....really beachy which is just our style! Can't wait to go! ♥

We've missed you so, so much... your wonderful posts, beautiful pictures, and amazing sets! So glad you're back - so, SO glad. :)
We recently collected some sea glass, too. Mostly green, and a few tiny pieces of dark blue. Congratulations on finding red! That is a remarkable accomplishment. :)

    1. Hello Kirsten and Sylvia! We are so glad you are so glad we are back! :) We don't have many dark blues and we LOVE that color! It's not that rare either.....we just cannot seem to find too many good sized pieces of that color. Lanie has super sharp eyes too and she only has a couple/few pieces. She finds LOTS of green. Thanks so much for your comment! ~D3 Team ♥

    1. Hi Maria! Awww, you are so sweet! Lanie's camper is actually......well, Lanie's camper! :) As you more than likely already know, Lanie was the 2010 American Girl Doll of the Year and one of her accessories was her camper. It's pretty darned big and we had to save 11 months to have enough to buy it but it was so worth it cause it's soooo, soooooooo cute! Lanie loves camping and LOVES to do it in her camper. We do like the new pop-up camper though and might be tempted in the future to save up for it too! You know, for when Lanie has too many girlfriends to sleep in her camper with her! ♥
